OUR DIFFERENCE
We’re building connections that last.
At Wheatbelt & Beyond Youth Mentoring (WBYM), we know that one conversation can help but long-term relationships transform lives.
What Sets Us Apart
We are a free, flexible, inclusive program designed to meet the unique needs of young people in regional, rural, and remote WA. Our program was developed over 9 years and is continually fine tuned to be easily incorporated into a variety of settings across the country.
Unlike one-off programs or short-term interventions, WBYM focuses on long-term relationships. Students stay with the same mentor for years, often throughout their high school journey, building trust and creating deeper, more meaningful connections.
We are:
Flexible: One email per week is the minimum, but connections can grow over time.
Free: There’s no cost to schools, students, or families, ensuring every student gets the opportunity to participate.
Place-based: Designed in rural WA specifically for rural, regional, and remote students.
Community-focused: Bringing together students, mentors, schools, and families to create real, lasting change.
Overcoming Distance with Flexible, Remote Mentoring
We’ve developed a remote-first mentoring model that works seamlessly for regional schools.
This flexible approach means geography is no longer a barrier.
Students in even the most isolated schools can build meaningful, long-term relationships with mentors, broadening their horizons and giving them support that would otherwise be out of reach.
